Design Challenges for Schools.

Amaze were originally commissioned to create a micro-site that could simply provide information on this challenge, that could live within the Design Council website itself and be easily ‘copied’ to create new challenge ‘sub-sites’ as they were generated by the Design Council.

Amaze delivered not just this simple sub-site but also a richly interactive, securely accessible online ‘workspace’ for participants of the challenges (school teachers, their students and chosen Design Council Design Ambassadors) to not only access intuitively structured information pertinent to carrying out a challenge, but also importantly to interact with each other in a shared and secure online environment throughout the challenge. Our aim was to join-up the many schools involved in the challenge and to create a more communal ‘buzz’ around the initiative.

The resulting workspace is in itself a very functionally rich website with:

  • User specific content display and functionality
  • Access to a plethora of print based supporting material, designed by Amaze and accessed in PDF format for teachers to print and use in class
  • The ability for student’s work in progress to be uploaded and subsequently commented on by teachers, designers and other students
  • The ability for anyone involved in a challenge to let everyone know what they’re up to via a post moderated shout-box

Of considerable additional value to the Design Council, both the sub-site and their associated workspaces can be easily copied for use on future challenges.
